Frequently asked questions
1) What’s in your Cider?
a. Apples mainly. Our Cider is made from locally sourced apples. Some we grow ourselves, some we buy in, some we collect and some are donated. Most of the apples are from Berkshire. We let nature do most of the work but we will add sweetner and preservative. Some of our Contemporary Cider have sugar and a few others we add flavouring and water too.
2) Is your Cider Vegetarian?
a. Yes it is. Indeed it’s vegan. It’s also gluten free.
3) How many Ciders do you make?
a. There are lots of Ciders available. The website shows them all. We classify them as Traditional, Contemporary and Flavoured. Our Traditional Ciders are made in the traditional way and will appear a little hazy. They may be a little sharper than some of the more Commercial Ciders which is a function of the apples we use. Our Contemporary Ciders are filtered and therefore clear. They are also more carbonated. Our Flavoured Ciders are both traditional such a Strawberry and Dark fruits and modern such as Cranberry and Mango. You can also buy them in bottles where they will be slightly fizzy and Bag in the Box where they will be still.
4) What’s special about it?
a. Well first of all it’s local and we know that lots of people are keen to support local businesses and reduce their food miles. Secondly, it’s Proper Cider. It’s made in the traditional way by simply pressing apples and letting nature do it’s work. We also mature our Cider for 12 months which we think adds to the taste. It’s quite sustainable in that we use apples that might otherwise get thrown away and any waste goes to feed the local pigs. It’s also very good. We have six Great Taste Awards. So we are Local, Proper, Sustainable, well matured and Award-Winning.
5) How can I buy some?
a. You can find our Cider in local pubs, taprooms, restaurants, hotels, arts venues and some supermarkets. But if you want to see the full range go to our website www.tuttsclumpcider.co.uk and we will deliver a case to you within a few days.
6) How do you deliver?
a. If you live within the Reading (RG) postcodes we deliver in our vans for free. Otherwise we will send it by courier. It’s heavy and fragile but we pack it well and need some one over 18 to receive it. If you have any issues just call and we will sort it out.
